Clyst Vale Crime Scene Corporate Evaluation of Crime Scene Scenario Day

The day proved to be a great success for both staff and students all of whom thoroughly enjoyed the Crime Scene Corporate innovative and hands on way of engaging the students in 'real' science. It is fair to say that all the students gained an insight into the science behind forensics but perhaps more importantly the day rekindled the students' interest in science in general. Many staff have commented on the increased enthusiasm for lessons since the day.

The Crime Scene Corporate team were extremely well organised and prepared for the day. The pre-visit meeting was essential to the smooth running of the day and I was certainly impressed with the team's willingness to work with the staff at Clyst Vale.

A few comments / observations on the day.

Year 10 dressed in white suits, in the hall all learning, all engaged and on task and all having fun'. Students of all abilities asking question after question about blood spatter patterns & fingerprinting technique. A Principal standing in the hall with a huge grin on his face full of pride. A genuinely impressed science staff on the overall day (and that is saying something!)

I would like to say that Crime Scene Corporate were a big hit in our school. Our attendance was very high for the week that they were there. We decided on a week long event which involved all the school and teachers as suspects. The school had police stations, media teams and scenes of crime officer teams. We had live crime scenes all around the school following an ongoing story which Crime Scene Corporate and ourselves worked together on. This forensic week cumulated with an arrest in main assembly from the metropolitan police force. Well done Crime Scene Corporate. I would recommend this company to any school and wish them luck with what they are already achieving.
